One room with bar to left. Six craft type ales on offer, some very strong. Choice of one third, one half & two thirds of a pint. School type benches to sit on. Various fridges with cans, bottles & wines on sale.

We called in here specially to see the barman, who had recently moved here from the Barrel Drop. As per usual he was in his fun and hyper mood, chatting about beer and handing me samples. It wasn't too long before I was trying various canned and bottled beers from around the country.
The customer base is mixed and generally people in here are really into the beers and cost seems to go out of the window, when you see what people are spending. There is also a choice of five keg beers on tap and one handpump served near the small bar counter near the front. My favourite beers on this visit were, Verdant Light Bulb from Cornwall, which is an extra pale ale, and Beavertown Lupuloid IPA.

The beer dock is a rather unique concept as it is primarily an off licence with the option to sit and drink in the premises as well as taking drinks home. . They mainly specialize in bottled beers from around the world but do have a lot of good English ales that are hard to come by in supermarkets, i recall there selection of blue monkey ales to be very good.

They also have a good selection of draught products for people who would rather just enjoy a sit down drink with at least eight different "craft" beer taps, but as you may expect the price is greatly inflated for these types of drinks with some breaking the £5 barrier.

When I last went in July there was only one pump dispensing real ale that changes with each barrel. I enjoyed a pint of Black iris Snake Eyes (£3.00) and this was kept in perfect condition. Other than that Bradfield Farmers Blonde and two beers from Shiny brewery have featured both priced at a steep (for the area) £3.50.

The negatives are that the bottled beers are priced very high meaning the take home option falls a little flat with most people, especially compared to what is on offer from the supermarkets. the seating is also a little uncomfortable as they have long wooden bierkeller style benches only.

On the whole this still offers an enjoyable drinking experience with well kept beers that are constantly changing, albeit and a slight price premium .
